Supanova 2012 Sydney

Well – some of the  ‘Beginnings Anthology’ crew and myself – have survived Supanova 2012 Sydney.

On the table were the bright and shiny Emma-Jean, the conversational Ryan, the wide eyed Eleri, the action dou of Katie and Ian, the ever helpful Rob, and me.

Our setup on Friday bump in was chaotic – parking organisation was scattered and a long long long wait (pro tip – unless u have lots of heavy stuff park nearby instead of going to the loading bay). When we finally got in we found we were missing a table, a sign, but we had an extra chair. Thankfully the excellent workers inside fixed up everything for us really quickly.

We heard later that it was a record attendance at the con, and boy did it show. I have not seen that many nerds packed into one place ever. The crowd was so built up at times that going to find the toilet which was normally a 5 minute trip ballooned to a 1/2 hour; at other times we had people interested to look at the stuff on the table but the drag of the crowd pulled them past.

On day one we reduced the last of the Beginnings Anthology stock to 3 copies. By morning – even before the door was open – we were down to one copy which was snapped up soon after. So that was awesome! I hope everybody that got a copy enjoyed something of it. To those who missed out we are looking into a possible digital distribution but that’s still in the research phase at the moment so keep you eye out. Thanks to all who dropped by and tried one of our crazy books and had a chat. And to all the difficult and weird people… well thanks to adding to our pile of ‘crazy con stories’.

Besides selling our books my favourite part of the con was getting to hear David Mack speak. Awesome artist that  has so much more of a traditional approach you dont see as much in comics anymore.

Was great to see all the crazy cosplayers, have the nods of solidarity with the other soldiers of artists alley and all the crazy attendees.

I look forward to the next exhausting confusing chaos weekend and now my ‘to read’ comic pile is almost up to knee height ( for reals! ).

I shall leave you with some random pics.

hugs to all!
